The National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp) provides unique annual opportunities for corporate and foundation support.  Below are significant components of the NYSCamp that are available for a naming sponsorship – to sponsor the NYSCamp – please reach out to the NYSCamp Director.  Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the NYSAcademy to discuss other options (starting at $1,000) that recognize an organization’s scientific interests and ability to provide financial support.

Washington, DC Visit: Delegates experience extensive scientific, governmental, and cultural offerings during this three-day program. Delegates visit museums, historic buildings, government representatives, and monuments. They also typically attend a STEAM Policy panel organized by the AAAS and an NYSCamp-organized special event. ($55,000)

Lecture Series: Lectures are presentations for the entire NYSCamp audience. Each lecture is selected to be a thought-provoking presentation of a scientist’s work or the relation of their work to society. There are about twenty-five lectures per camp. ($40,000)

Directed Studies Series: Visiting and resident authorities from diverse fields conduct multi-day, in-depth research investigations in laboratory and field studies. There are three multi-day blocks of Directed Studies with ten studies in each block; $25,000 would sponsor the naming of one series of blocks. Examples of previous directed studies include medical ethics; immunological aspects of Chagas’ disease; mathematics and music; metals, alloys, and phase transitions; and astronomy at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. ($25,000/block)

STEAM Programming Areas ($10,000 each):

  • Computer Science – Computers are used to conduct research, and usage is integrated into other program areas to support program areas.
  • Physical Science – Delegates explore many hands-on activities in chemistry, physics, astronomy, and engineering fields, from designing bridges to withstand significant weight to sampling local water sources to measuring pesticide levels.
  • Natural Science – Extensive natural history and environmental studies using the rich and complex environments of the Appalachian highlands. Delegates participate in field laboratory studies that have included, among other topics, monitoring of hummingbird foraging, census taking of small animal populations, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Outdoor Adventure and Field Studies – Physical challenges and adventures include three small-group team-building overnight trips into the Monongahela National Forest, featuring: backpacking, mountaineering, spelunking, mountain biking, kayaking, and science field experiences led by resident specialists and practicing scientists.
  • Art and Music Program – Provides delegates opportunities to express creativity in various media using old and new technologies.  Delegates may also join the chorus, wind ensemble, or jazz band. Putting the ‘A’ in STEAM since 1963!

Delegate Sponsorship: Covers all costs associated with the travel and attendance of one delegate to the National Youth Science Camp. ($7,500/delegate)
